it’s morning, and it appears that i still like this thing. glad that’s so. today i begin to undertake the task of putting relevant documents up on google docs so that I can begin to work. I also undertake the task of putting important literature on this thing so I can have it here. This is good. my plan for using it as a dissertation tool begins, hopefully, today.. though I have a busy day, but I gotta start sometime, eh?
virtually standing in line
apparently imaweb2.0geek., living in the valley, cache that is., my life No Comments »okay, i have to admit, i am virtually standing in line for the new OS for the iph0ne. i keep plugging in my phone to see if they’ve released it yet.. are they going to release it at midnight eastern time? that means another hour.. or midnight cupertin0 time? that means another 4 hours. or 8am sometime? no, i’m not going to stay up until midnight pacific time, but i will check in an hour for midnight eastern time. yes, i’m that excited about some of the new features. it’s been a crappy few months and i need new technology.. i don’t qualify for an upgrade of the phone itself and i can’t afford that other lovely (the ip@d) and so this new OS release is my new technology for now. it’ll provide a little distraction from the crap for a few hours (or hopefully longer).
in other news, one of my jubilee tomato plants is proving it’s growing.. a flower is starting to open on it. i’ve been watching the flower over the last few days. it’s exciting to know that i haven’t killed *one* of these plants. i think the rest are doing okay, though i’m still waiting for that kind of proof that they are happy. oh, and the basil i started in little pots – growing nicely in the house. i wake up every morning to see them getting a bright eastern sun and then i carry them to the other side of the house to get some bright western sun as it sets over the wellsvilles. soon they’ll be put in the garden with the rest of the plants, not sure how soon.. me being who i am it’s likely that i’ll put them out there in their pots for a few days to hang with the rest of the plants before i do the transplanting (there’s more sun in the little garden during the day than in the windows). oh and 3 rosemary plants have popped up. this may be all i get and that’s fine. they get the same treatment as the basil.
temple fork, again.
apparently imaweb2.0geek., living in the valley, cache that is., my life No Comments »i really enjoyed my trip up to temple fork the other day and so i decided to go again. this time the gate was open to the road so i was able to drive in just a bit and go straight to a trailhead. i didn’t stay out long, probably hiked 2-3 miles total, on a flat trail, but i’m outta shape, and this was just perfect. now i’m going to bore my readers with pictures, because as weird as this monoculture utah is, it is a spectacularly beautiful place.

looking up the little river. this one is for dad.

a view of the mt. naomi wilderness from the temple fork area. ain’t that beautiful?

into the small canyon on the way back to my car.
see, utah really is gorgeous.
———
and yes. like many other iph0ne users, i am anxiously awaiting the new 0S update. will it be out tomorrow? will it even be announced tomorrow? oh i hope so.
added: it came back up by midnight, mst.
Added: twitter hacked, defaced by ‘iranian cyber army‘ at tech crunch.
and the world is coming to an end. really. of all the social media thingys, twitter is the one that has caught my attention. i did f@ceb00k for awhile, but.. i just didn’t like the cliqueness of the place. it felt.. well, too much like high school. it became this way even more for me when a bunch of people from high school friended me and didn’t talk to me.. it felt like high school all over.. same people knowing me but not really interacting with me. but twitter, well – i can follow who i want too and have conversations, or not. it just fits my personality better.
*and* yes, i have found community. thanks to @breyeschow. he’s a social media nerd, pcusa pastor, and moderator of the current general assembly of the pcusa (i’m not sure how much power that title comes with, but it is an impressive one). he put together lists of pcusa presbys who twitter and we started to follow each other, and then from there i found @jaybakker (son of jim and tammy faye), shane claiborne, etc.. basically a bunch of emergent and outlaw type christians, along with some mainstream pcusa presbys (i delineate pcusa from other denominations of presbyterian in the u.s. because the others seem significantly more conservative). and then there is a whole palestine crowd as well that i follow, and while i feel less of a sense of community with them, i still enjoy their presence in my life and am glad i can stay up to date on the news there along with hearing commentaries from people actually over in and around that important piece of land.
isn’t that interesting? the 2 main groups i follow – christians and palestinians. there’s a draw to that land, yes there is, and the importance of that land in the lives of these faithful christians that i follow on twitter just can’t be captured. and as christians who believe to the core in justice and overcoming systems of oppression what is occurring in that land must stop.
so yeah, twitter is down, the world is coming to an end, and i guess it’s probably good so i go to sleep at a decent hour.
over there —> under “about me, pages, a quote, and my heart” is “my tweets, from twitter.” i spend a lot of time on twitter. now y’all can keep up with me, if you want. i’m rather banal, but sometimes i do retweet something interesting from someone from eugene, palestine or the PCUSA.
